This permit is required for all temporary membrane structures (tents, canopies, air-supported structures) erected on UTEP property.

General Information

Does the membrane structure fabric meet the flame propagation performance criteria contained in Test Method 2 of NFPA 701?* Required

Will finished ground level enclosed by the temporary membrane structure, and not less than 10 ft (3050 mm) outside, be cleared of all flammable or combustible material or vegetation not used for necessary support equipment?* Required

Will portable fire-extinguishing equipment of approved types be furnished and maintained in the temporary membrane structure in quantity and locations as directed by the AHJ?* Required

Will a fully automatic standby power system be provided, consisting of either an auxiliary engine generator set capable of running the blower system, or a supplementary blower unit sized for 1x normal operating capacity powered by an internal combustion engine?* Required

Will heaters used inside the temporary membrane structure be approved by the authority having jurisdiction?* Required

Heater fuel type:* Required

If fuel-fired heaters are used, will tanks be secured in the upright position and protected from vehicular traffic, with heaters and their installation approved by the AHJ?* Required

If liquefied petroleum (LP) gas containers are used, will they be installed not less than 60 in. (1525 mm) from the temporary membrane structure and in accordance with NFPA 58?* Required

Has the placement of the tent(s) relative to other structures been reviewed with consideration given to occupancy, use, openings, exposure, and other similar factors, subject to the discretion of the AHJ?* Required

If tents individually not exceeding 1,200 ft² (112 m²) are located in fairgrounds or similar open spaces, will safety precautions meet the approval of the AHJ in lieu of required separation distances?* Required
